Explanation : “Achhadou al-lâ ilâha illa-llah” (I testify that there is no god but Allah)
This is pure monotheism. Allah is unique, he has no partner, no one is equal to him, he has not begotten, he has not been begotten, he is the Master of the universe, the Almighty, the Eternal.
By declaring the first part of the Shahada, we agree to submit to God, to respect the obligations and prohibitions mentioned in the Qur’an.
Mohammed
Explanation “Achhadou muhammadan rasûlu allah” (I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah)
It is a matter of acknowledging with full knowledge and under no constraint that Muhammad (saw) is indeed the Messenger of Allah and that he is the Seal of the Prophets as well as the bearer of the last divine message: The Holy Quran.
By declaring the second part of the Shahada, we agree to follow the Sunnah which shows us the acts and words of the Prophet.
Thousands of Prophets for one Message …
Since the beginning of creation, all the messengers of God have preached the Unity of God the Almighty. As soon as the people strayed from the right path, God sent them, by His great Mercy, Prophets. All of them! Without exception, they fought body and soul, in order to restore the Divine Order and to annihilate polytheism (belief in several gods) and idolatry.
The Certificate of Faith is the key to Paradise…
The Certificate of Faith is the key to Paradise; you must take care of it and keep it carefully, because no one else will be able to open the door for you on that day. Do you ask yourself how a simple sentence could make you enjoy the delights of Paradise? Realize its value! It is priceless and, moreover, it distinguishes the believer from the non-believer. But what is this key like? Its teeth represent the conditions of validity of the Certificate. If a tooth is bent, broken or missing, the door will not open. So what are these conditions?
- Understanding
That is, to know its meaning, far from any ignorance. God says: “Know that there is no God but Allah. (Qur’an 47.19). And the Prophet said, “Whoever dies knowing that there is no God but Allah will enter Paradise.” (Muslim)
- Certainty
To be certain, without any doubt, that this attestation is anchored in our hearts. God has said: “The true believers who believe in Allah and His Prophet know no doubt…” (Qur’an 49:15). Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever meets God and utters without any doubt, the statement that there is no God but Allah and I am His Messenger, shall not be deprived of Paradise.” (Muslim)
- Submission
To submit and obey God completely as He has commanded us: “Turn to your Lord, submit to Him” (Qur’an 39.54)
- Sincerity
To be frank and loyal in making this attestation in good faith, contrary to what the hypocrite would say. In this regard, God says: “Do people think that they will be allowed to say, ‘We believe’ without testing them? Surely, We have tested those who lived before them; [So] Allah knows those who speak the truth and those who lie.” (Qur’an 29.2)
- Love
God the Most High has said, “The believers are the most ardent in the love of Allah.” (Qur’an 2.165) For his part, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever possesses these three values will taste the sweetness of faith: to love God and His Messenger more than any other, to love only for the sake of God, and to repel returning to idolatry as to repel being thrown into the Fire.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
